Of Dogs and Angels

This morning as I was out walking, I passed a boy with a frantic look on his face. He was carrying a leash and collar (minus the dog).

I recognized the boy. Although I didn’t know him, I had passed him and his cute little black Labradoodle on many different occasions.

“Have you seen my dog?” he asked in a worried voice.

“No, I’m sorry. I haven’t seen him.”

The boy went running off in a different direction.

I began to pray…

“Lord, you care about that boy. You care about his dog. You have said that you will command your angels concerning us. Will you please send an angel to retrieve that dog and bring him back safely?”

I kid you not…. About 30 seconds later that little black fluffy dog came running up the path to me. I stopped and picked him up and carried him to a place in the shade.

Then, I asked God to go bring that boy back as I waited.

He did.

Ten minutes later the boy and dog were reunited.

That’s the way God works.

“He shall command His angels concerning you, to keep you in all your ways.” Psalm 91:11

Can you pray for me right now? I'm having a tough time getting done what I need to get done for work and I'm feeling overwhelmed.

That is so awesome!! Thank you for sharing this :)

I actually have a similar story, if I may:

As you may know, I suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder. So, last night, I'm trying to pray, and having a rather hard time of it. I keep feeling like the Holy Spirit is urging me to pray in a kneeling position on the floor. Only, it's cold, and kneeling is uncomfortable for me. So, I get back into bed, only to be flooded with guilt and anguish. So, at this point I became confused, as to whether I was disobeying the Holy Spirit or just being caught in a spell of OCD. So, I cried out, "God, please help me!" and what do you know, right as I did that, my brother got out of bed and started walking around in the hallway. This may seem insignificant, but it isn't, because if I had been seen by him kneeling before my bed, he would've freaked out and told my parents I was being fanatical or something (he's agnostic). So, I figured, ok, guess that might have been a sign...but then the pressure came back. Right as it did, though, my mother walked into my room to wish me good night, right as I was thinking, "well, if my mother says good night to me I'll take that as a sign that it's ok to pray in bed..." He answered my prayers, twice! I was astounded.

This may seem a bit random, but it just reminded me of how real Jesus is, and how He really is the Son of God who answers our prayers. Wow. It boggles my mind sometimes. :)

If your brother were to catch you praying on your knees, and you were to explain to him what you were doing, I see nothing but God-given opportunity to preach the name of Jesus to your brother...

not saying you should have prayed on your knees, but something to think about, no?

Oh, it is something to think about :) My brother used to be a Christian, but he stopped believing somewhere around high school, and he's generally opposed to it nowadays. But I'm praying for him, and trying to be kind to him despite him thinking I'm a nut-job :) But you're right, I had not thought about that.

I really enjoyed reading your story. I struggle with some of the things you described and it can be tough at times. Glad to know there's someone with a similar experience : )

You're very welcome! That's awesome that I'm not alone there! If you don't mind me asking, do you have OCD, too?

That’s the way God works.

Amen. :)
