Writer's Block: Vampires, again?

Is there a TV show that everyone around you watches that you really don't get or like? If so, what is it? To what do you ascribe the odd fascination?

Most shows on TV raise a caution in my spirit these days.

I am becoming more and more aware that not everyone shares the same convictions.

So, in regards to any activities in which others participate that my convictions will not allow, this is my motto…

“Others may, You Cannot.” —G.D. Watson (1845-1924)

I personally really like that you think that way. I feel safe with people who have standards and don't subscribe to things that are really full of blatent sin and no lesson. I watch trueblood but more and more I'm beginning to realize how awkward it makes me feel. It's just not something that fills my mind with good things so I think I may stop watching it.

If you follow those convictions God is placing in your heart, you will never go wrong!

I've read this quote by GD Watson before, but it makes me wonder if he is not alluding to the proposition that God has his "favorites" and some not so favorite... I think i get what you are saying here 1CB, but the whole thing GD Watson is saying leaves me with a what is wrong with me feeling.

Favorites? Really? I didn't get that at all from his words!
He reminds me that God's dealings with us will look a little different for each of us. He will receive the most glory if we don't compare ourselves to others and just "run in our own lane".

Yep and i think for the most part we are in agreement that what God does in the individual lives of each person will look differently and should not be compaired to someone else. But the opening line "Others may, you cannot" just leaves me void in this letter.

God has a very unique and special relationship with EACH one of his children, and it is not a camp 1, camp 2 type thing, it is as I understand it as individual as each thumb print.

However i will be the first to admit that i do not have the sole interpretation of what God's word means or a certain poem or letter a follower of Christ writes.

"Others may boast of their work or their writings or their success, but the Holy Spirit will not allow you to do any such thing, and if you ever try it, He will lead you into some deep mortification that will make you despise yourself and all your good works."

That made me laugh a little.

How about you?

I have a similar motto: That which is popular isn't always good.
