Writer's Block: Table for One

Do you ever go out to dinner (at a sit-down restaurant) by yourself?

No. That's no fun. Everything tastes so much better when you're with a friend.

I feel completely awkward and self conscious alone at a restaurant!

I agree with you 1CB, but there is something very freeing to be able to go out and treat yourself to a fine dining experience just because you can. I have only done this a few times and while there is a little bit of akwardness, once you press past that feeling, you get to order what ever you want without concern about price or timing. I would encourage everyone to do this at least once in their life, but make sure it is a fine dining experience, McDonalds or any other fast / drive through doesn't quite do the trick.

dear CajunNCary...that sounds good and fine, but still, in my book, it would only be a dining experience, not a FINE dining experience.
Fine dining requires a friend. (Or maybe someone to cook a nice london broil, twice baked potatoes, and steamed broccli meal in their home, with a little homemade lemonade, I might add)

I gotcha 1CB, and that is why our restaraunts are not overcrowded with tables for 1. Most people agree with you.

My view point is certainly the odd ball out, but i guess that is in keeping with my personality :-).

And i do love to cook, for more than myself, but i was the only one eating, i'd still do more than open up a can, or warm up a frozen dinner.

I'd open a can or warm up a frozen dinner.
And, by the way, your odd ball personality is why I love you. Wait... maybe I'm the one with the odd ball personality and you're normal.

maybe both of us are a bit of an oddball

If I ever make it to your side of the world, we should dine together cuz I don't have the strength to dine alone either.

Hi there Trustinghim4u:

I've had a life of having to overcome obsticles, and i just decided early on (i think in my later 20's), if something scared me or freaked me out, then i would set out to overcome that fear. Now that doesn't mean i'm gonna jump from an airplane or bungee jump or mountain climb, but within reason (and that word is sometimes overused to divert an unpleasantry, but not here) i'll try to do the things that make me fearful.

I love Joyce Meyer's saying that "Courage is the ability to do it afraid"
