Today's Spotlight

There may be seasons in our lives where God calls us into the spotlight. The anointing flows. Millions of souls are touched and transformed.

But, there may be seasons we are called to obscurity in order to hold up the arms of those in the spotlight through prayer and quietly watch the great and mighty things they are doing through Him.

Yes, I couldn't agree more. Many people in any given church don't appear to be doing anything for the body and we might think, hmph, they just come in, worship and listen to the sermon but don't contribute. I've heard some Christians complain about such people, and it bothers me.

We don't know if they might be spending a lot of their time in prayer, interceding for the pastors, sunday school teachers, ushers, sick church members, and even possibly for ourselves, in effect holding up the arms of those who are visibly ministering. They may be interceding for the government, for persecuted brothers and sisters overseas, possibly contributing to Samaritan's Purse or something. I think this sort of thing is really important.

Perhaps they go street-witnessing but we've never seen them do it because we prefer to avoid the areas where they are led to go. And we don't know this because it's really none of our business what others are doing and not up to us to take such a view of those whom we perceive to be hearers and not doers of the Word.

It's these excellent people who unobtrusively strengthen everyone else. It's a sobering and moving thought, that someone might have prayed at some point for my little music ministry.

Such a good remindeer that we don't need to be worrying about what someone else is doing. We just need to focus on what we are supposed to be doing!

This is a passage that few seem to know. What made you post it today? It falls under 'helps' in 1 Corinthians 12:28. My favorites are the 'dirty' jobs. Someone has to wash the dishes, or clean the toilets, or change the diapers! Where would we be without those people?

Yes...where would we be without those people?

So true. There are many things we cannot do--many instances when we cannot directly intervene or assist, but as long as we have something of a mind about us, we can always pray.

(Even when the time comes that we have lost much of our cognizance, I suspect that is one of the many occasions when "the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. . . ." (Romans 8:26))

I love this thought. Thanks!
