Writer's Block: When I Grow Up

Do you ever do anything now that you swore you would never do when you were younger? What is it?

I never liked it when my mom answered my questions with, "We'll see". I never knew what that meant.

Now I do.

WE'LL SEE - term parents use when a child wants something and they don't want to say yes or no. Usually means "no".

Now, I use it all the time.

Works wonderfully.

My mom was so smart.

One that I used successfully was "I'll put it on the list". My youngest daughter asked for just about any product advertised, even "sham-wow"type items. We'd always respond with "I'll put it on the list" and then, one day, my daughter asked to SEE the list!! LOL!

That is so funny! Reading that just brightened my morning (always nice to start the day with a laugh)!

Robynn has your game down! She's pretty clever with asking you to commit to hard dates, right?

Oh Robynn, Robynn, Robynn. Dear sweet Robynn. Wants to know the exact date and time, everytime. Won't settle for the "we'll see" business!!

I can't believe she's turning 13 this year. What's going to be really fun is when she's a high school senior and we can all go to Passion together. If Rachel and I go as volunteers, there might be a few years when we can all go : )

I've used "We'll see." My daughter made the mistake of pushing for a definitive answer, so I said, "If I have to decided right now, then the answer is "NO!"

She didn't push again.

HAHA,,, my parents used to say that along with "it depends"

I use both terms, but i expand on the reason now, and i agree with you,,, i used to hate it when my parents said that as well,,, it always gave them a way out, which i hated.
