Writer's Block: Turn and face the strain

What is the biggest major life change you've made in the past five years? Do you think it was positive, negative, or neutral?

I am unable to narrow it down to just one major life change but here's one for starters...

"Sunrise...Sunset...Sunrise....Sunset..."

Is this the little girl I carried?
Is this the little boy at play?

I don't remember growing older
When did they?

When did she get to be a beauty?
When did he grow to be so tall?

Wasn't it yesterday
When they were small?

Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly flow the days
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers
Blossoming even as we gaze*

Yes, they do change all too fast! With my 'baby' just married, and just the one unmarried son at home, it is too quiet here! While I like the 'freedom' of coming and going as I please (no babysitter needed!!), it's too quiet most of the time!

Enjoy it while they're still there!

Sometimes I think God made teenagers so annoying (sometimes) so it hurts less when they leave.

"Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum.
All day long I'd biddy biddy bum.
If I were a wealthy man."

I can still hear Uncle Edmond singing that song in my head...

That song gives me chills... as i watch my children grow up to teens, then to young adults, then young men making their own way through this life... i know that this life is but a whisper, a vapor... soon to be gone. So even as i am challanged with the growth pains of my teenager, i remind myself they too are soon gone... and then my tears are not because of a foot stepped on, but because my heart is broken.

Children surly are our crowns.

Yes, surely our children are our crowns. And our prayers for them WILL prevail. Every weapon formed against them will fail. God will establish every word that we speak and every tear that we cry over them. Walk in that today!
