Rise and Shine

Sometimes my daughter, Robynn, has a hard time waking up in the morning.

I go to wake her up…she says she’s awake…but she’s not.

Twenty minutes later I find her still in bed, with absolutely no memory of me waking her.

Today, for fun, I thought I’d wake her with a question…

“Robynn, time to get up.”

“OK”

“If you’re really awake, tell me who the president of the United States is.”

(Long pause… stretch…pause) “Ummm. .Obama.”

“And who was the 16th president of the United States?”

(Long pause “I don’t even know that when I’m awake.”

See, if Robynn was really on her toes, she'd answer your second question with something like "Pee Wee Herman" or "The Three Stooges." But of course, your whole point is that she isn't yet...

And the thing is...She could have said any president and I wouldn't have known if she was right or wrong!

I know you're not from here, but do you have any idea who the 16th president was without googling it??

Does anyone know?

OK. Just looked it up.

Abraham Lincoln.

Wow! That's something worth remembering.

And since yesterday was Mother's Day...here is a wonderful quote from our beloved president.

“All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother.” – Abraham Lincoln.

That was great!! LOL!

I had a son like that. He would walk in his sleep; he would have his eyes open, but his brain was obviously still in dream state. Once he almost peed on the corner of his bed, because he was dreaming he was in the bathroom!! We had a 'baby gate' across the top of the stairs for YEARS because I didn't want him to fall!!

When he moved to a first floor bedroom as a teen, I used to play music on my computer to wake him for school. We would start with something quiet, then some faster tunes, and the last was the Olympic Fanfare and Theme by John Williams. This increases in volume and tempo and a crescendo of horns, drums and cymbals! He would get verbal reminders, too, that he'd better get up before the drums started!!

I just started laughing remembering the way you tell the story about the time you came into my room to turn off the fan, and I started shaking my finger and saying "especially, especially". I think your recollection was that I was trying to tell you that I was especially upset about you turning off the fan.
