Make a Difference

Every Monday, my favorite radio station encourages us to participate in “Make a Difference Monday”. Basically, you look for some simple way to touch someone’s life in an unexpected way. Then , (and this is the hard part) they want you to write to them and tell them what you did. It’s a great idea and it got me thinking..

So, there I was in Great Clips waiting for my son to get his hair cut. The young man ahead of us was dressed in army fatigues. My son took one look at him and said, “I want my hair cut just like that,” and he pointed to the army guy with the military hair cut.

The young man chuckled, paid his bill and left.

But then a look of panic came over the attendants face as she realized the army guy’s credit card had been declined.

As I watched her expression, “Make a Difference Monday” came to my mind and I said, “Would you please put that young man’s hair cut on my bill?”

“Are you serious?” she asked.

“Yes. It would be a great honor for me to pay for his hair cut considering all he does for our country.”

“He left me a three dollar tip. Do you want to include that?”

“Yes, I do.”

He’ll never know that someone paid for his hair cut. It doesn’t matter. The people at Great Clips do, and maybe next time I visit them I can find another way to share the love of Christ with them.
