Writer's Block: You should have been there

Which five events in history would you choose to experience in person, and why?

I would choose 5 events centered around the person of Jesus Christ.

His birth, sermon on the mount, transfiguration, death, and resurrection.

Who was Jesus?

Some say he was a prophet. Some say he was a deluded mad man. Some say he was the Messiah sent from God.

I say He is God who became flesh to walk among us, bear the penalty of our sin, and bring us into right standing with Himself.

Who do you say He is?

You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to." - C.S. Lewis - Mere Christianity

Just remember to call him Josua like his mother Miriam did. "Jesus" is more or less the Greek translation of his name. Its highly unlikely that he would answer to that name.

Thank you for that word! Who do you say He is?

This is part of how I answered today's question,

"Quite a number of folks want to go back in time in meet Jesus Christ. I have this vision of people walking around Galilee looking for a tall, blue eyed, man with long hair, calling out for Jesus Christ. I envision them walking right past a relatively small, slight dark man with short hair and beard named Yeshua bar Yahosef and not realizing that's who they are looking for. Having written that, I would love to know what he looked like, how many siblings he had, what were his original follows like (especially how many woman were originally close, and disciples) and what he believed. All too much of Christian doctrine was codified by Saul of Tarsus a man he never met."

Such a well made point. So many missed who Jesus was when God walked right in their midst, because he didn't look the way people thought He should look.

The same is true today.

Our own human understanding will never reveal to us the true identity of Christ.

Only God can do that.

I don't know if you'd be able to see much of his birth. That stable was pretty crowded with animals, shepherds, and wiseguys. :)

I would see his baptism by John, the calling of the disciples, the sermon on the mount, resurrection, and ascension.

So, OK maybe I should choose being out in the fields with the shepherds when the angels announced his birth. There was was a lot more action going on out there!

And I like you choices too!

The actual translation of the name Jesus Christ is Yeshua HaMashiach. Along with 117 other names, check this out http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Names_of_G-d/Yeshua/yeshua.html

And of course since Jesus knows the english language, i do believe in fact that he would listen to us when we call out in our own tongue as he is all knowing and all wisdom and when we call out his name, it is from our heart and that is what he hears.... a heart calling unto him.

We praise his name and call him LORD in our own language, but he hears our heart!
