Recently, I went over to our neighborhood middle school (about three minutes from our house) to enroll my son who will begin public school after 8 years of homeschooling.

They told me in no uncertain terms the school was capped. Closed. Overcapacity. Not even taking names for the waiting list because that list was impossibly long. They told me he would be bused over to another school (which, by the way, would add about 1 1/2 hours of bus riding to his day).

I tried as best as I could to maintain my composure and hold my tongue (reminding myself…"Be nice. Be nice. Be nice.")

"I understand," I said.  "I am certain that the very best will work out for my son. Where he is supposed to be….he will be."

And so, he was enrolled at the other school. Class schedule made. Orientation completed, with a start date of Aug 25th.

And then, God did one of His "suddenlies".

The neighborhood school data manager called yesterday (that one three minutes way from us)...

"Hello. A spot has opened up for your son, here. Would you like to take it?"

Can anyone say, "God made a way where there was no way???"

god will make a way

Especially since it is his first experience in a school outside of home, it is a blessing that it can be a close one--and the one that you had counted on!

I smiled at your "Be nice. Be nice. Be nice." I have had to say that to myself in a couple of instances this summer, too!
