Writer's Block: Neat, sweet, groovy songs

What was your favorite childhood band or artist? Are you still a fan?

As a child, I was clueless about the happening music of the day.

I do, however, remember a certain artist who was played every day on the bus ride to middle school.

Bobbie Sherman.

He sang a song that made me ponder a whole lot of things…

Julie, Julie, Julie do you love me?
Julie, Julie, Julie do you care?
Julie, Julie are you thinking of me?
Julie, Julie will you still be there?

I remember wondering who Julie was and I remember thinking, “Wow, it must be wonderful to be so loved that someone would write a song about you.”

In my mind, that would be the ultimate dream.

I didn’t know, at the time, that someone had already written a song about me and was singing over me all day, every day.

He’s written a song about you, too.

A great message, and beautiful picture, as always, but....music on a school bus?? How did THAT happen? (I remember that song! I liked it too.)

I guess my bus driver liked listening to the radio! Either that, or he was so kind and tolerant that he put the music on for us. He was a really nice bus driver and made a lasting impression on me!

That's nice that you had a great driver. Was it a long ride? My kids only were on the bus 15 minutes or so (and for the most part hated it!!). My employer grew up in Iowa and was the furthest from her high school. She said she got on first, got off last, and her 'average' ride was about two hours!!

My bus ride was about 15 minutes. Just long enough to hear a little Bobbie Sherman and Michael Jackson for the day!

I sometimes ran a late and my bus driver knew it. He would always wait for me as I came running up the street and say..."Here comes Cindy running the cross country..."

LOL! That's a nice bus driver!

Most of what my kids hated about the bus was that so many kids were loud, mean and obnoxious and the bus driver didn't think it part of his job to stop it. And in high school, they hated the smell of all the kids 'lighting up'! My oldest used to come in and shampoo every day to get the smell of cigarette smoke out of her hair!

My 13 year old has chosen to take a different bus that drops her off a few block further away from our house (but still in our subdivision) because some of the kids are bullies and say mean things. She wants to avoid trouble. Smart girl!

Having written songs about a lot of people in my time, it's a lovely thought that God would do that for me.

Yes, and His song for you has a sound all its own!

Isn't that the perfect picture of the lover of our soul? I close my eyes and imagine that I am that lovely to my savior....that he would sing over me, it is such a beautiful picture. Thanks 1CB for reminding us just how lovely we are to our Lord

My brother's wife gave me a Bobbie Sherman album. She didn't know about the Monkees.

"Hey Hey we're the monkees..."
That used to be one of my favorite shows!!
